MEET OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Sonia Gupte, CHt

CEO and President

“The doctor who let go her stethoscope.”

Let’s talk possibilities.
Not limitations.

Dr. Sonia’s successful career as a Family Physician spanned 15 years and 3 countries. Until a traumatic family event back home and a deep inner calling forced her to look at the way mainstream medicine was unable to address prolonged chronic conditions. Her frustration as a doctor, limited to writing and refilling prescriptions for managing just the symptoms of chronic disease without delving into the cause led her to look outside the box for unconventional approaches to tackling chronic ailments. She chanced upon the technique of guided hypnosis and soon discovered that it was the perfect bridge between the human body and the mind. This understanding of the intricate relationship between thoughts, emotions, feelings and how they can contribute to the silent breakdown of the various organ systems in the body led her to create and apply the technique she developed called Mind-Body Hypnosis ®. The profound results she was able to get in resolving a variety of chronic ailments in thousands of cases inspired her to create this Nonprofit, Mind Medicine Movement, with the mission to tackle the enormous challenge of chronic diseases by using the power of the mind to heal the body.

Dr. Rupa Mahadevan

Board Member

Dr. Rupa is extremely passionate about moving the Mind Medicine Movement forward as she has seen the direct impact mindful modalities can have on her patients such as hypnosis, yoga, tai chi, and meditation.

She has seen that the Mind-Body connection has a direct correlation with positive health outcomes when it is harnessed in the right way since we are driven by our thoughts which create our health behaviors. She believes that more health professionals need to be taught about this field during their medical education and training to help patients achieve their desired health goals.

Mind-medicine is a great therapeutic modality that now has stronger evidence supporting its use for both disease prevention and treatment.

Dr. Rupa joined the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport faculty in 2019 and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. Prior to coming to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, she was a Pediatric Attending Physician at Lurie Children’s Hospital Primary Care Clinic in Chicago.
